This educational video is designed to provide an overview of current scientific knowledge and practice regarding schizophrenia. Implications for diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and long-term adjustments are included. The video is intended for use in graduate and undergraduate training programs in psychology, psychiatry, social work and nursing. Mental health professionals can use the video during in-patient and out-patient education of mentally ill persons and their families. Especially useful for introducing the many complexities of this illness, the video presents concepts in both visual and verbal terms and uses a minimum of jargon. A 29 page Discussion Guide is included that facilitates the use of the video for educational and self-help groups.
